Throughout my life I have experienced the pressure of supporting my family and managing a busy career – struggling to find a happy, healthy life balance. I suffered when tiredness and anxiety left me feeling overwhelmed, exhausted and on the verge of burnout, realising the way I was living had to change and feeling trapped in a situation which seemed to offer no real future.

I first experienced coaching in 1994, attending a course by Stephen R Covey – ‘The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People’. This changed how I looked at work, relationships, my principles and values, giving me a new perspective and a focus on my own wellbeing.
Working in a highly pressured corporate career for over 28 years, involved me leading projects, developing strategies and solutions, supporting individuals and teams. This work was difficult, with constant stress and huge demands leaving me drained and exhausted – struggling with overwhelm, I realised my health and wellbeing were suffering.
When I felt myself losing control of my path, I knew I had to make changes.

One of my first actions was to reconnect with a quote I had read many years before, a quote that sparked an interest, a fascination within me. The quote said:
By surrounding myself with positive reinforcement, exploring inspirational writings and music and pushing away the negative pressures which were holding me down, I started to make a change. Instead, seeking out positivity allowed me to build myself up, filling my focus with experiences which nurtured and enabled me to build my own success. Through hard work, dedication and a strong belief in myself and alongside my corporate work, I began to dedicate my life to working on myself. With my self-development came heightened levels of self-awareness and increased levels of reflection, helping me to achieve a state of mind, a state of being, that has created a life that I don’t need a vacation from.
This time of massive transformation – moving from darkness to light, from powerless to powerful – allowed me to reflect on what I truly wanted to achieve. I came to realise that, within the role I was following, it was the development and growth of my team which was making the most difference and providing the greatest reward.
Through more than ten years of self-development, including studying and practicing Meditation, Mindfulness, Reiki, Hypnotherapy, Counselling and Life Coaching, I realised my passion, my expertise was in helping others to grow, to develop, to maximise their full potential and live a more fulfilling life.
You may have heard the saying, ‘thoughts have energy,’ and this is something that is at the forefront of my coaching style, a style that I consider to have an ‘Holistic Approach.’ In that, I am able to work with my clients mind, body and energy. For me, to be truly effective and successful when I coach, I need to connect with all of these elements of my client. It’s not enough for a client to just think about what it would be like to achieve their goal, when they start to feel what it would be like, the thoughts, the images and the feelings, help to energise, drive and motivate them towards reaching their goal.
In April 2017, I left my corporate job and dedicated myself to full time learning and increasing my self-development, so that I could truly follow my passion, my purpose. I joined The Coaching Academy and over a two year period, I studied and honed my skills as a life coach, achieving a Distinction in my training. During these two years I also studied and achieved a Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills, through the CPCAB, the Counselling & Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body.
Throughout my life and career, I have often had cause to refocus, develop or change direction – these things do not come easily for anyone; at these points I seek understanding, reflect on the circumstance and grow my self-awareness. By exploring my experiences and learnings, I’ve achieved a healthier balance and a life which is aligned to the things which are most important to me.
