Positive Mindset

Having a positive mindset is such a powerful thing. It doesn’t mean that from time to time you won’t have any negative thoughts, what it does mean is that from this positive place, you are more easily able to handle what you are presented with in life.

When we are feeling fearful, constantly worrying, feeling anxious or stressed, we become overwhelmed and struggle to think of positive things, as our minds are already full. Many years ago, I made a conscious decision to expose my mind to as much positivity as I could. This was in the form of, reading positive quotes, listening to uplifting music, looking at pleasing images, for me this was a beach with white sands and the clearest blue water. It could be pleasing colours, these could be vibrant colours that make you feel good, finding things to laugh about is always good for you too. I found that by doing these simple things, my mind quickly became used to the stimulation of positive images, words, sounds and feelings that I was having. Also, be aware of your self-talk, your inner mind chatter, make sure what you are telling yourself is positive. If you have a negative thought about yourself, pause, reflect and reframe in the positive, this helps to create a positive mindset, a can-do attitude. Remember, be kind to yourself. The practice of helping someone else from a place of positive intention, takes the focus and your thoughts off you, helping to change your mindset and increase your energy. This can take you out of a place of fear, of anxiety and help to channel your energy, your thoughts in a more positive way.
